This book features the "Great Living Tree" Tibetan grammars, which are the standard beginner’s texts used for studying Tibetan grammar in Tibetan schools and monasteries in general. Tibetan grammar has often been taught by westerners in a way that does not reflect how Tibetans understand their own grammar.  This and our other books in the series on Tibetan grammar have the special feature that, for the first time, they present native Tibetan grammar works in English, works that show how Tibetans understand their own grammar.  Therefore, this book is the recommended textbook for anyone beginning a study of Tibetan grammar. Tibetan Grammar: Situ's Words

This book presents a native Tibetan grammar text by Ngulchu Dharmabhadra.  It is the standard amongst Tibetans for studying a medium to advanced Tibetan grammar. Ngulchu Dharmabhadra is recognized by Tibetans in general as one of the greatest grammarians in Tibetan history.  The text here reflects his knowledge and is strongly recommended for anyone who is studying Tibetan grammar. His nephew, Yangchen Drubpa’i Dorje, was his primary student for grammar, and also became known as a particularly eloquent and knowledgable grammarian. Tibetan Grammar: The Essence of Situ's Elegant Explanation

This book presents a native Tibetan grammar text by Khenpo Ngedon Gyatso, a khenpo at Tsurphu, the main Karma Kagyu monastery in Tibet, during the 19th century.  It is a standard amongst Tibetans for studying Tibetan grammar. It is a medium to advanced level Tibetan grammar that summarizes the eighth Situ, Chokyi Jungnay’s great grammar, which is regarded as the most complete explanation of Tibetan grammar ever written. Khenpo Ngedon’s text has become the standard text for the study of Tibetan grammar in Karma Kagyu monasteries. It is an excellent companion to another Tibetan grammar text available in our series of books on native Tibetan grammar called “Tibetan Grammar: Situ’s Words”. Tibetan Grammar: The Application of Gender Signs Clarified

This book explains Thumi Sambhota’s sixth defining treatise on grammar called “Application of Gender Signs”. The book presents a pair of native Tibetan grammar texts that explain the difficult but important topics of that treatise.  The texts are advanced, but very important, grammars that cover how several topics related to the application of gender signs, such as how transitive and intransitive verbs work in Tibetan language. The texts in this book are the standard amongst Tibetans for studying these topics. This is a book that translators in particular need to study. This books is a major work that covers all the difficult aspects of Tibetan grammar as Tibetans understand it.
